I will soon be a proud owner of a M-2 RTR Gasifier and would like to know what’s the best Speed Control Unit recommended. Also is the preferred source of power Ac or Dc ?
To run on DC you simply need a small inverter again Harbor Freight is your friend here. However if you using this for off grid then you should already have a battery bank that you are charging with this system and will already have plenty of AC power to run your gasifier. That is really the point, you should never allow your battery bank to pull down beyond 50% capacity so you should always have the power you need to get the gasifier going on AC. But there maybe times where the batteries are pulled all the way down so you would need a back up. So to run the unit off of a back up 12 volt battery you just need a small inverter like the ones linked bellow. All my videos are off grid we do not have shore power here.
The Amtek blowers are very powerful and have an isolated housing that is sealed. They are the best blower option available on market. DC blowers are generally weak and the only ones with the required sealed housing available must be imported. They are more than twice the cost of the Amtek blowers. So the cost of the router speed control and inverter are more than justified, plus you then have the ability of both AC or DC. You can also run the Amtek directly off of DC power but 24 volt will be the minimum voltage to power the unit to a fast enough speed.
For your speed control this is what I use, you can get them from Lowes, Harbor Freight, and other places as well, just look for a router speed control. https://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Controller-Variable-Adjuster-Hydroponics/dp/B07T9BLJ7L/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2FCZFNQVPFEQI&keywords=router+speed+control&qid=1650308625&sprefix=router+spee%2Caps%2C30&sr=8-3
