Ive been working on a new custom project for multiple inquiries.
Ok so a chip fuel gasifier, seems ideal as you just chip fuel and put that fuel in the gasifier right? WRONG!! That is not how this works. First you dont just chip your feed stock. First you must de limb the feedstock, no leafs or small branches can be chipped. That is a process and it takes time. Small limbs and leaves will render unusable small fines that you must screen out. Even with this pre processing, you still need to screen the fuel to get the small fines out and with a small chipper this can add up to 25-50% waste!!. If you dont this it will lead to flow problems and make life bad for the operator. Then after all that you then must dry your fuel and generally to chip fuel it will need to be green so air drying time can take days up to weeks before that fuel is even usable in a gasifier. Then tar can never be 100% guaranteed eliminated, I would not make this claim even with charcoal and it is 100% less likely than a raw fuel gasifier. It is actually much faster to produce charcoal and with less hands on labor.
Ok so now what if you wanted a gasification technology, but wanted to run chips? Maybe you have a free source or its just more convenient as a process. Lets say you want cogenerate system that produces primary heating and hot water? You want a system as reliable as charcoal but with easier fuel process methods.
Where here is a proposal that takes the best of both worlds!!!
This here is a charcoal gasifier system that features a fully automatic fuel processing unit and is capable of 400,000 btu heat output for heat and hot water. This is an outdoor system so the heat reclaim is via a recirculating water system.
So with this system you feed it just like any raw fuel gasifier plant. Except moisture content and fuel consistency is no longer an issue. This is because the processor does not require the moisture reduction that an engine grade gasifier does and any small fines will simply burn up and reduce to small amounts of white ash. So you can get away with higher moisture content with less processing as all this kiln is doing is reducing this fuel down to carbon while producing an abundance of heat. The charcoal that is produced simply actuates out the grate system and into an auger system. Since it is just charcoal we are moving auger jamming is no longer a concern here. The auger then feeds directly into the gasifier. This will be fully automated and the controls will know when the gasifier is full or empty.
The M-1 Alpha is designed for larger 500 to 1000 cc V twin engines. When the unit is full this unit can self ignite and self flare. Once the controls detect a sustaining flare it can be set up to automatically self run the power unit and self shut down when the hopper is empty.
So now you have a system that can provide both heat, hot water and power, plus support an EV off grid. It can be fueled just like a raw fuel gasifier but without tar issues and have the reliability of charcoal gasification technology. The unit is simpler, with way less maintenance as there is never any condensate to drain, ash to clean out or tar saturated filters to deal with on a daily basis. Yes you will need to service the ash clean out and address filter cleaning. However ash clean out will only need servicing once a month running a full time off grid application and the filters are very easy to clean and service. (its just dust)
Also shown is our Vertical drive V twin Honda power plant. This can be ordered in any AC configuration or there is a 24 Volt DC option available. We are limited to 24 Volt as we will be using heavy equipment alternators for this application. They are low cost, abundant on market and are well proven.
This proposed system will come at price point at just under $15,000.00 USD. When you compare this other systems on market, this slightly higher price point is worth every penny. This machine will feature much more advanced automation and controls. it will not make tar, it will be more reliable, it is capable of much higher power output compared to others in this price range, plus it is capable of producing primary heating and hot water needs.
There is also another option to reduce this cost. If you eliminate our hopper for the kiln, the kiln processor is designed around a 55 gallon drum that the user can source themselves. This will lower the price by $2500.00 down to just $12,500.00. That is well in the range to comparable priced gasifier systems and those system do not feature advanced automation or have the capability of this machine. If you are in the market for a system;; others in this price range do not compare. Choose wisely its a lot of money; its your money!! Our system will work and do so without issues that plague raw fuels gasification. Dont fall for marketing make your choice on actual working technology. Do these other guys even have video showing working machines for more than a few seconds?? Yeah dont fall for that, they need to show at least a half hour of consistent run time under load. I have video of many machines doing this on our youtube channel no one else shows this and you have to ask why.
